The naming method used in our converter is not based on an ingenious implementation of an automatic naming algorithm. Instead, we use the information that is already freely available on the net, namely the PubChem.
This great and comprehensive resource of free chemical information provides all the basic data about chemical compounds freely for download. We have used subset of the compounds to create a comprehensive database of chemical names that uses InChI for indexing. This way, every time you use the converter, the InChI that is either submitted or automatically generated is used to query our name database.
We would like to acknowledge the work of the PubChem team that enabled us to provide this functionality to the chemical community. We provide links back to PubChem together with each name to pay back at least partly for the work it has saved us.
